Peter McCallum
Peter McCallum (1943 – 1999) graduated in medicine at Monash University in 1967 and in psychiatry at the University of Melbourne in 1972. He was a lecturer in psychiatry at the University of Melbourne for four years and then went into private practice. In the late 80’s and early 90’s Peter was involved in the process of auditing Victorian Inpatient Mental Health facilities. With a strong conviction in the importance of a high quality public mental health system, Peter left private practice to take up the position of Clinical Director of Psychiatry at Geelong Hospital. Peter has had a longstanding interest in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy as well as Family Therapy and has practised, taught and published his ideas over a period of 30 years.
